An alternative measuring device used in determining the gel strength
of a drilling fluid is the Shearometer. The set includes two 5-gram, 3.5" x
1.4" hollow shear tubes and a sample cup with a graduated scale mounted
in the center of the cup base. The scale measures gel strength in pounds
per 100 square feet.
