The OFITE Non-Settling Deposition (NSD) low temperature filtration cell is an improvement in filtration measurements of drilling, workover, completion, and coring fluids. The NSD filtration cells filter in a horizontal direction rather than vertical. This more closely resembles the geometry of the downhole environment. Particle settling on the filter medium prior to actual testing is minimized, resulting in more realistic filtration and filter cake analysis. Preferred particle orientation, plugging agent-bridging agent ratio, and filtration medium orientation studies may also be performed.
The OFITE design negates the interruptive effects of gravity and improves accuracy and efficiency. Utilization of NSD cells provides more meaningful data, allows more accurate comparisons, and yields more cost-effective selections of fluid products and systems.
